    Regency character added

Later Regency additions bring ornate cornicing, wooden and marble fireplaces and the sweeping mahogany staircase, giving the house the layered character it keeps to this day. Georgian house  - Rebuilt by Charles Ballinger in the style of skaitshill house in slough

The architecture

Georgian bones, Regency soul

The house wears its history honestly. Georgian symmetry gives it calm and proportion; Regency detailing gives it warmth and flourish. Original Victorian mosaic tiling lines the entrance hall and open fires still draw in every principal room.

As a Grade II-listed building, every restoration has been carried out with care, preserving the character that makes Glewstone feel quite unlike anywhere else.

The Cedar of Lebanon

Five hundred years of beauty

No feature of Glewstone Court is more loved than its great Cedar. Believed to be around five centuries old, it spreads its branches over the driveway and greets every guest who arrives.

It is the tree at the heart of our crest, and it has stood here longer than the house itself.
